Find other interesting people nearby with Nearby Tweets

Continuing this week's theme of Twitter-based apps, I'd like to take a moment, just sit right there, and I'll tell you all about a web app I found called Nearby Tweets.

Nearby Tweet's creator Brian Cray calls his application "a geography–centric social tool for networking and a business tool for building customer relationships and monitoring real–time buzz." This might sound confusing, but the basics are simple.

You want to find people that live in your town that might have a common interest with you? Type in your address to Nearby Tweets, and it will tell you all Twitter users nearby your address! You could then follow them to see what's going on in your area.

I tried Nearby Tweets with some success. I found a few friends who I followed, who posted about a meet up they all go to every month. I tweeted back and asked where and when it would be, and found a great event I can go to through networking on Twitter.

Nearby Tweets has a great and simple interface, and, of course, is free. Give it a try and see what who you can find online! Nearby Tweets
