Help Cure Cancer with Salem State ACM!

Biological diseases and cancers are one of those things that we all have to deal with in life in some way or form. Luckily, there's a way to help.

Salem State ACM Club (http://salemstateacm.org) started a pilot program at Salem State's Ellison Campus Center lab, a largely unsupervised lab with computers left on very often. The results of these machines running have generated 789 work units to this date, a collaborative effort of 11 participant machines with 16 cores running a total of nearly 700 hours collaboratively.

The pilot program considers ECC a success in converting spare CPU cycles to productive work. Power consumption is not affected majorly since the computers are free to suspend or shutdown even while assigned a task. While it is optimal for the machines to stay on for processing, they do still have an effectiveness during their lifetime being on.

Current plans consist of adding additional computer labs to the workforce and testing results.

We are looking for people to help! If you are interested in contributing to the cause, please visit http://salemstateacm.org/foldinghome/ to get involved!
